Reconnecting the park to Gardiner and Cooke City/Silver Gate remains Yellowstone's highest flood recovery priority. Springtime visitors will find limited but expanding hiking opportunities, as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities at higher elevations. Yellowstone has reopened a 23-mile segment of the Beartooth Highway (from US-212/WY-296) junction to the ski hill parking lot), providing visitors access to this world-class scenic roadway. The park reminds travelers that weather can change rapidly during spring and that can affect road conditions.
